- A new social justice journal club is starting in the UBC Department of Psychology! This journal club, Intersectional Perspectives in Psychology (IPP), aims to provide a space for the exploration of psychological research that employs an intersectional lens. We aim to acknowledge, celebrate, and study those incorporating intersectionality into their research as these voices are often lacking in traditional undergraduate studies.
- IPP meetings will occur monthly over Zoom. Many of these meetings will include presentations from authors about their research and will give students an opportunity to discuss intersectional research with authors themselves. Through IPP, students will gain exposure to intersectional and social justice-driven psychological research and will have an opportunity to discuss, collaborate, and learn with like-minded peers. The first IPP meeting, on September 30th, 2020, will orient members to the concept of intersectionality, why it’s important for psychological research, and will set the stage for the rest of the year.
- If you would like to join the IPP Journal club and attend the first meeting on September 30th, send your email address to ipp.journalclub@psych.ubc.ca as well as a short description of what you hope to gain from the journal club.

Signing up for stem-cell donation is easy and you can get a buccal swab kit delivered to your home!
