President – Jimmy Chokmeesuk (he/they) email

Bachelor of Arts, Psychology
Year: 4

Jimmy is a Thai genderqueer forth-year Psychology student and is also minoring in Interpersonal Development (Counselling Psychology) under the faculty of Education. This is their second year as the executive at PSA, last year, they worked as VP Academics. They are currently working at Stigma And Resilience Among Vulnerable Youth Center (SARAVYC) as undergraduate academic assistant. Jimmy is passionate about psychopathology and its psychotherapy especially suicidology, in which they hope to better the health care system and psychotherapy that overlook transgender and non-binary people’s diverse lived experiences. With PSA, he hopes to better the study and work environment that allow people to connect, socialize and learn each other’s stories, with a hope to ease their stress and make their university journey more enjoyable. Jimmy also takes inclusion and diversity very seriously to make sure that he does not leave anyone on this journey alone. In their spare time, he loves reading a good book, cooking Thai food and volunteering at a non-profit organization.

VP of Social Affairs – Shain Poon (she/her) email

 

Bachelor of Arts, Major in Psychology with a Minor in Education
Year: 3

Shain is a third-year Psychology student with an Education minor emphasis on Special Education. Shain has worked as a social director for PSA last year and hopes to bring more social events for psychology students this year as the VP of Social Affairs. Abnormal psychology and educational psychology are the fields Shain is most interested in. She hopes to pursue a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology and work in said field. In her free time, Shain enjoys going on runs, cooking, and exploring restaurants around Vancouver.

VP of Academics – Sneha Beniwal (she/her) email

Bachelor of Arts, Major in Psychology with a Minor in Education
Year: 4

 

Sneha is a fourth-year Psychology student and a minor in Interpersonal Development under the faculty of Education. This will be her second year working with the PSA Academics Team. Last year, she was the Academics Director at PSA. She made new friends and felt a strong sense of community along the journey. Being an international student, she understands how important it is to make social connections in such a big university where it is easy to feel overwhelmed. As the Vice President of Academics this year, she aims to bring forth exciting & informative events for students across campus that will help them in their academic lives. She also hopes that through these events students get to socialize and have fun along with gaining knowledge. She hopes to pursue a career in Clinical psychology and also wants to do something for social causes in the future. In her free time, Sneha likes to read self-help books, explore new cafes, and meet new people.

VP Marketing – Miriam Tang (she/her) email

Bachelor of Arts, Psychology

Year: 3

Miriam is a third-year Psychology student. This is her second year serving in PSA’s Marketing Committee. She worked at UBC as a Marketing/Communications assistant for the Branch of Global Surgical Care over the summer. After graduating, she hopes to pursue a career in marketing. Miriam enjoys reading, dancing, and playing the violin.

VP Communications – Anushka Gulani (she/her) email

Year: 2

 

Anushka is a second-year psychology student. This will be her second year working for the PSA. She worked as a writer for the PSA’s weekly newsletter last year. As Vice President of Communications, she hopes to connect with the psychology community, as well as bring psychology to students outside the department. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, writing poetry, and reading. After graduating, she plans to pursue research in personality psychology.

VP External Coordinator – Kaitlyn Hagihara (she/her) email

 

Bachelor of Arts, Major in Psychology with a Minor in Commerce

Year: 5

 

Kaitlyn is a third-year Psychology student who is also pursuing a minor in Commerce. She has been with the PSA as VP External for 2 years now, and this will be her third and final year holding this position. Kaitlyn is originally from O’ahu, Hawai’i and loves spending time back home enjoying the year-round warm weather by surfing and hanging out with her dog. In Vancouver, you can find her spending time with friends downtown and finding new places to eat.

VP Internal Coordinator – Janhavi Pandit (she/her) email

Year: 3

Janhavi is a third year Psychology student and this is her first year working as a PSA executive member. She is passionate about helping and serving the community and in her free time she enjoys playing basketball, baking, and catching sunsets at the beach. After graduating, she plans to pursue a career in clinical psychology.
