Below is our general schedule;
Day 1 (April 9th): Friday 4pm – 8:45pm (BREAK: 7-7:30pm)

Day 2 (April 10th): Saturday 10am – 6pm (BREAK: 1:30-2:30pm)

Our mission is to provide a professional environment for undergraduate researchers to showcase their work, gain experience in presenting at conferences, and contribute to the scientific community. We strongly encourage all undergraduate researchers who have spearheaded any form of Psychology research during the 2020-2021 academic year to apply to present at this conference. This opportunity is not only an invaluable opportunity for the presenter to exhibit their research, but is also crucial in making this event a truly enriching experience.

The event will include a special keynote speaker, showcase of undergraduate students’ research, professors and UBC community.

  • The special keynote speaker is a clinical psychology professor at UBC and her research area of interest includes assessment and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), childhood anxiety and stress-related disorders (including trauma-related disorders) in children with and without ASD. Recently, she has been named a member of the Evidence Based Working Group by the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) where she will be working to provide evidence based recommendations to build and strengthen Canada’s National Autism Strategy and will be sharing more about the same and her research at her keynote speech.

We will also be hosting door prizes! Our prizes will feature our new PSA merch ~ winners will receive a PSA package that includes:

  • shirt
  • tote bag
  • pens

There will be two draws for both days, so this is your chance to win! Attendees will be notified about draws during the event! We hope to see you there!

Traditionally, the presentation registration fees have been used to cater for the event. This year, unfortunately, we are unable to meet in person. However, to continue our tradition of supporting local restaurants, this year we will be donating all proceeds to Pampagna’s Cuisine! Established in June 2018, Pampagna’s Cuisine is a family-owned restaurant that provides authentic and home-cooked Filipino dishes in the Lower Mainland and specializes in Kapampangan cuisine. Located in the Collingwood Neighbourhood, Pampagna’s Cuisine as well as four other Filipino and Chinese restaurants face the threat of being displaced due to gentrification by the 5163-5187 Joyce Street Rezoning project. The project proposes a new 32-storey mixed-use property to be built and would include commercial residences and a new branch of the Vancouver Public Library. This would result in the displacement of a significant cultural food asset that shares Filipino culture through food, as well as a threat to the sense of community and belonging that has been built in the neighbourhood amongst Asian diaspora, especially Filipino diaspora. Given the impact of the proposed rezoning project combined with the struggles COVID has posed on this relatively new and family-owned business, the PSA is thrilled to be supporting this local business by donating all proceeds collected from the PURC registration fees to Pampagna’s Cuisine!
