Executive Team (2025-26)

President – Lika Konate  email

When asked, “Why PSA?”

“I have been in the PSA for two years now and absolutely love it. I was a committee member and then became director of the academics committee. I love the PSA because it not only allows psychology student to network with other students and professors but it provides some guidance regarding the steps that can possibly be taken by psychology students to achieve their professional and academic goals. I plan to pursue a career in forensic psychology because I have a passion for law and psychology and that is the perfect middle ground. I believe that those within the criminal justice system need and deserve proper mental health services and I would love to provide them.”

VP of Academics – Erika Chu email

When asked, “Why PSA?”

“As we all know psychology is one of the biggest departments in UBC. With so many people in our department, sometimes you start feeling a bit lonely and distant from everyone else. Joining the PSA Academic Committee as a general member last year reminded me just how powerful and important it is to find your people: to connect with other like-minded, ambitious and passionate psychology students. That’s why I’m so excited to step up as VP Academics this year! I want to continue create this space for students to connect and make friends; somewhere where our ideas are seen and voices are heard. Hope to see you all at our events!”

VP Marketing – Navya Chadha email

When asked, “Why PSA?”

“I have always been interested in marketing and content creation. I have always thought content creation is an amazing way to connect people and express creativity. Also, I am very passionate about Psychology and at PSA, I get the space to express both of my interests. As VP Marketing, I hope to create fun and engaging content that makes PSA more fun for me and my team. I am excited to engage in this creative process and come up with unique ways to create content for the PSA.”

VP Communications – Lily Moteva email

When asked, “Why PSA?”

“As an incoming student in UBC’s largest major, I initially thought it would be difficult to connect with other psychology students. But joining the PSA gave me the opportunity to meet like-minded peers who are just as passionate about psychology as I am. Giving back to the community alongside such incredible people, while having fun in the process, has helped me feel more connected than ever.

Now, as the VP of Communications, I’m proud to have the opportunity to welcome others into this community. I help share knowledge by interviewing professors and researchers, and by keeping our members informed through weekly newsletters. It feels incredibly rewarding to open doors for others, just as this community once did for me.”

“As a Psych major, I’ve always wanted to be part of a community that shares my interests and passions. Now, as VP External, I have the opportunity to represent PSA beyond our campus- through partnerships, events, and outreach. Having joined this psych community, I’ve stayed because of the incredible people and meaningful purpose behind it all.”

VP Internal Coordinator – Cindy Shih  email

When asked, “Why PSA?”

“As a neuroscience major with a commerce minor, I’m interested in how psychology connects with real-world systems like finance and leadership. The VP Internal role felt like the perfect opportunity to bring those interests together in a meaningful way. I joined PSA to be part of a community that encourages connection, learning, and personal growth. It’s exciting to support the behind the scenes work that helps make events and opportunities happen.”

VP of Equity – Lauren Farahani

When asked, “Why PSA?”

“As an Iranian born in Canada, I know what it feels like to be torn between two worlds where experiencing inequality is far from rare.
As VP Equity of the PSA, I get to make a difference at UBC and ensure that all my fellow psych students, whether International or Canadian, feel at home and are always included in the conversation.
I have always loved neuropsychology, and hope to one day go into psychiatry or neurology! I’m so excited to organize equity events and to uphold my responsibilities as a leader in equity, diversity, and inclusion for the psych student body.”
